An army marches on its stomach – Napoleon Bonaparte
What fantastic news overnight that the Boyne Valley, @BoyneValleyFood in the heart of the county, won first prize in the Foodie Destination Awards 2016 as voted by the Restaurants Association of Ireland, @RAI_ie . Food is just another reason why business owners should think about locating to the county and #MakeItMeath. We’re now officially the best in Ireland, a further incentive to have your base here.
It was Napoleon Bonaparte who said that an army marches on its stomach. Fortunately we don’t have to worry about Napoleonic wars any more but there are still thousands of people in the Meath workforce that have to be fed, ready for the next day’s toil. A well fed body of workers is what you need and what better for them than to know that if they head for the Boyne Valley they’re heading for best food and drink in Ireland?
Because we have deliberately focussed on telling companies of all shapes and sizes, both indigenous and from overseas, about the hard business benefits of setting up in Meath we have kind of de-emphasised the softer benefits, such as what a fantastic place Meath is to live in. But when you are voted as ‘Best in Country’ by an independent national judging panel – well you have to shout that from the rooftops!
It’s not just the food you know. If you’re not familiar with Meath, based immediately to the North West of Dublin, about forty minutes from Dublin Airport, you’re in for a very pleasant introduction. Ireland is known for its greenery. Meath is greenest and lushest. Ireland has a huge historic heritage. Meath has half of the UNESCO designated sites in the country at Brú na Bóinne with some of the site dating from as early as 35th century BC predating the Egyptian pyramids. For star gazers it’s an astronomical wonder. Then there’s the horses, the golf, the rivers…Meath is genuinely magic.
I could go on but I won’t. What I will do though is to ask anyone reading this blog to make contact with our County Council Enterprise Team who will be delighted to introduce you to every aspect of the county and to why our location is the ideal location for your business. And here’s a promise. When you commit your business to Meath we’ll take you for a celebratory meal to the Boyne Valley – now officially the home of Ireland’s best cuisine. Surely that’s an offer you can’t refuse?
