These could be some fantastic business opportunities in Meath
Jackie Maguire, CE, Meath County Council
The Meath County Council #MakeItMeath initiative aims to make setting up a business in Meath as easy as pie. Our dedicated Enterprise Team is ready to smooth any problems that might arise to ensure that we help create the 7,500 jobs that we’ve promised to deliver over the three years of our economic plan.
We’re not just looking for big businesses (yes, we love them) but we also want small businesses, a coffee shop or a small food enterprise, anything and everything that a thriving economy needs. Whereas it’s not for us to be suggesting businesses that could set up (fáilte roimh cách!) when I saw this infographic from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) it struck me that with such a rapidly aging population that Meath would be an ideal place to establish retirement homes for even retirement villages.
As you can see there’s going to be a fourfold increase in the over eighties over the next couple of decades and where better for them to live than somewhere there’s easy access maybe for family based in Dublin and the surrounding counties while offering a tranquil rural setting that could be established at much lower cost than something similar in Dublin?
Nursing homes, care centres and retirement homes are great sources of mixed types of employment as to run them you need skilled professionals as well as others with softer skills, people who are simply good with other people. They also provide long term and flexible employment, again ideal for those with young families that need to be able to work around school holidays and such.
So if you know anyone who already runs nursing homes or anyone you think might have an interest in setting one up why not tell them to #MakeItMeath and to give the Enterprise Team a call today.
